Munro launches £50k all-electric pick-up

Munro Vehicles, the Scottish electric 4x4 brand, has unveiled its latest model, the Mk_1 Pick-Up. Priced from £49,995 (ex VAT), deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year.

Munro has already received over 200 orders for the MK_1 Pick-Up, many from FTSE 100 companies.

Following closely on the heels of the Munro MK_1 Truck, the MK_1 Pick-Up is designed to cater to customers in challenging sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture and defence.

The Munro MK_1 Pick-Up made its debut in a bold Munro yellow paint finish in the 'Performance' guise. Like all models in the MK_1 range, the pick-up combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with an electric powertrain.

The rear bed of the Munro MK_1 Pick-Up can accommodate a euro pallet payload of 1050kg, while the Performance model boasts a maximum braked towing capacity of 3500kg.

Equipped with a power output of 375PS (280kW) and an instantly available torque of 700Nm, the Munro MK_1 Pick-Up can sprint from 0 to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. The model features a 220kW electric motor and offers a choice between Utility and Range variants.

The 82.4kWh battery can be rapidly recharged from 15 to 80% in only 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. With a fully charged battery, the MK_1 has a range exceeding 190 miles, allowing it to operate off-road for up to 16 hours on a single charge.

Designed, engineered, and manufactured in Britain, the Munro marks a significant milestone as the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland in over four decades.

"We launched Munro to fill the significant gap in the market for an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive, utilitarian workhorse. Our vehicles are designed and engineered without compromise from clean sheet principles unimpeded by any existing architecture. The result is a rugged construction created for decades of service delivering ultimate, go-anywhere, off-road ability," says Munro CEO and Co-Founder Russell Peterson.

"The levels of positive feedback we have experienced from media and customers who have test driven the MK_1 Truck has been unprecedented and the response to the new MK_1 Pick-Up has been equally positive. This, and the 200 plus pre-orders we have taken across both the truck and Pick-Up models, gives us great confidence that the vehicles Munro has created are precisely what the market wants and needs."

What pick-up truck do you recommend for £10,000?

I want to buy my first pick-up truck, I have about £10,000 to spend. I need reliability, four seats and some off road capability. In the future, I may use it to tow a caravan. What should I buy?
A Mitsubishi L200's probably your best option. There are plenty about and they're pretty capable off road. They are very different to a car (even an SUV) to drive, though, so be prepared for a bit of a culture shock if you haven't driven a truck before.
