Should I sell my Clio and buy a Polo?

I have had from new a 2012 Renault Clio 1.6 Automatic Tom Tom but I do not find the gears run smoothly and would like to change it for a Volkswagen Polo or something with the best type of automatic gearbox, which is smooth and efficient. What model/make would you recommend?

As far as I know, your model of Clio had a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission and, as long as there is nothing wrong with it, this type of automatic is generally the smoothest and most reliable.

The DSGs as fitted to Polos can hesitate when leaving side roads or joining roundabouts. The smoothest is likely to be a CVT as fitted to a current model Honda Jazz or Nissan Note or Toyota Yaris. But the best, in my opinion, is the 'Powershift' fitted to the latest Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/ford/ford-fiesta-1.../
